UKAPTB and leading tuberculosis charity TB Alert have joined forces to host a session at the Union World Conference on Lung Health in The Hague. The session, “What is the pathway to developing more effective collaboration between civil society and academia in applied health research?”, is free to attend and open to all, taking place at 13.15-14.15 (please note this is later than the originally published time) on Thursday, 25th October in the Community Space section of the venue.

Earlier this week, several members of our group were in New York to participate in the United Nations High Level Meeting on Tuberculosis.

On June 7th, MPs in Parliament dedicated a House of Commons Chamber debate to TB for the first time in 65 years.

Today, UK Academics and Professionals to End Tuberculosis sent a letter to the Prime Minister, which calls on her to attend the first ever United Nations High Level Meeting on Tuberculosis, in New York next month.

2018 is a landmark year for TB, with the first ever United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) High-Level Meeting (HLM) on the fight against tuberculosis planned for the 26th September in New York. The HLM aims to deliver an ambitious political declaration on TB endorsed by Heads of State, that will strengthen action and investments to end TB.

Thanks to some very hard work and persuasive arguments from the All Party Parliamentary Group on Global Tuberculosis (APPG-TB), the exciting news has just been announced that up to three hours on 7th June has been set aside in the House of Commons for a debate on Ending TB.

Our group is marking World TB Day 2018 by collectively publishing a letter to the UK government, urging more action on TB.
